For Tuesday sessions we have been given an assignment which is to make a 5-7 minute video project in a style of our choosing. Edem King and I, after much deliberation decided on making a Rocky style short film.
We originally wanted to do a music video from either the grime or hip-hop genre. We were seriously considering Sway - This is my demo and Kanye West - Stronger. However it was always going to be difficult to make a music video for the length of time the project needs to be, and failure to find a suitable track which would allow us to work on an interesting concept led to us scrapping the idea.
Then whilst surfing youtube for inspiration we came across this video from The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air.
This showed us the potential for a funny spoof training montage from the Rocky movies. Once again however giving the length of time the montage would have to go on for we decided to put a basic storyline to the feature.
We are planning on reenacting the famous Rocky 3 scene where Balboa and Creed come to the arrangement of Creed training Rocky in Mickey's old gym and allowing the story to develop from there.
The storyline really gives us a lot more scope and ability to work with different features in post production then a solo training montage would. This will hopefully show our ability to not only edit to music, but edit in a film form.
