My idea for the programme 'Do I really need ...' is centred around people's reliance on technology and especially VDU's.
Therefore my programme aims to show how people react when they can no longer use TV's, Computers, Phones and iPods. It can also be a study of how peoples culture, gender and profession affect their on VDU's. This can be achieved by making sure each subject in the programme differ from each other in some way. For example a 18 year old male will rely on VDU's differently than someone from an older generation.
The show will follow the format of a 'fly on the wall' documentary and will observe 5 individuals in their regular everyday lives and see how they react to not having VDU's.
The subject matters to me as I have a genuine reliance on VDU's for education and entertainment, but it will also be a throwback to days before technology such as TV's. I believe many viewers will also like an insight into what their life would be like without the VDU's.
