Vox pops are utiized by most formats of media such as a radio and TV in order to give a snapshot of public opinion.

The term originates from the Latin 'vox populi' and means voice of the people.

It is supposed to be a completely random and spontaneous event, usually taking place in public areas where the subjects are asked questions on a subject, with the answers being used as a reflection of popular opinion.

Here are some examples of Vox pops.

Soccer AM are one of the few companies that will use vox pops for humour, often targeting the odder looking individuals in a public place. X Factor Also use vox pops to gather opinions on the acts, or when family and friends of the contestants deliver good luck messages in the latter rounds.
